In Week 7, baby is developing:
- Longer limbs
- More brain cells
- A steadier heartbeat
- The entire skeletal structure (just cartilage for now)
- The digestive system (including permanent kidneys)
- The placenta (this week it sprouts villi, which will give the baby oxygen and nutrients from your system)
What to add to your healthy diet:
- Water
- Prenatal Vitamins
- Iron-rich foods
- Add some variety based on your cravings (see chart below)
The placenta is busy doing what it does best...growing bigger, pumping out more hCG. The hormone is making necessary changes in your body, which is likely to zap your energy. It also tends to make some women sleepy. You might experience some new cravings or food aversions due to these changes.
Here are some good thoughts on cravings by Baby Zone. In general, cravings may indicate that you need something extra, or they can be plain unhealthy. Be wise and moderate. Make healthy choices as often as possible (they add up!).
Here's a fun chart I found on Pinterest:
(There's one below for people who like plain charts)
REMEMBER: Schedule an appointment with your doctor, midwife, etc. soon!
