Baby's development this week:
- Cartilage is now forming into bones (starting in the arms and legs)- Umbilical cord is getting stronger and thicker
- Developing some body fat
- Practicing sucking and swallowing
Check out this cool video about baby's development weeks 15-20!
What to add to your daily menu:
- More Water
- Calcium-rich foods
More calcium means stronger bones. The cartilage in baby's legs and arms is starting to form into bones, which will require more calcium. Eat foods rich in calcium during this time (or take a supplement if you're having a hard time getting enough in your diet). If you do not get enough calcium, your body will start "stealing" from your calcium stores to give the baby what it needs, and you might have problems with your bones being brittle in the future (osteoporosis).
